Josh Gray Cohen

Josh Gray Cohen is a PhD candidate in the Committee on the Study of Religion at Harvard University, as well as a writer, translator, and sometimes actor living in North Brooklyn. His dissertation asks about the rise of raza (race, almost) as a theological concept in Renaissance Spain, and wonders why this rise coincides with a new Christian fixation on motherers, especially evil ones; his other writing is more all over. Josh grew up on the Upper East Side—I went to Hunter—and has lived in Rabat, Tunis, Madrid, Granada, Somerville, Berlin, and Montreal.
